Day Five review

I didn't quite expect to even get to this point! We are now 340 miles into the ride which is an excellent place to be. We have ended up in Clun which is in Shropshire. The hostel is based in an old mill which still has the majority of the original features showing. Nothing but rolling green hills, peace and quiet, and a football match to watch at the pub.

The ride today hasn't been difficult although they have thrown in a couple of suprises on the way. It seems like we have not been through a town or city as the majority of it is country lanes where the only vehicle you'll meet is the local tractor. The only downside so far is the route guide which is wildly inaccurate on the distances for the day. Today was due to be a 50 mile day but ended at 61 miles. It's hard to stay motivated when you reach the target and have another 11 miles to go!

All in all, the ride is fantastic. With ten days left and a third of the way through, I still can't believe I am here doing it. Anyway, todays stats are 61 miles at an average of 10.3mph taking us 5hrs 50mins

Just looked at your map and for once you were moving when it put you on the map recorded you at 9Mph. Was trying to find out just where you were but all the roads look the same, the best I can offer is somewhere between Mytton and Broomfields. Just thought I would let you know that someone is following your progress, Good luck with the rest of todays cycle.
